Story of hope- TFCM doing family together
In June 2019, we launched a small appeal to raise funds for the family of Joshua Sserwadda. He is sponsored by TFCM and attends The Father’s Children School in Kalagi. He lives with his father Ronald, and his mother, Prossy, together with his three brothers. Their sole family income was derived from selling bottled milk which is boiled and bottled at home. The father distributes and sells the milk locally by bicycle.
We were informed that Joshua was helping his father prepare the milk at home during the school holidays when he suffered nasty burns to both of his legs. The family also had to deal with having a stillborn baby, which led to further medical complications for Prossy. She required surgery, and follow up treatment that was far beyond what the family could ever afford.
They had taken out a loan, but repayment of the capital and interest on the loan presented a daunting challenge when faced with a severely limited family income, an unwell mother and four children to be cared for. Prossy’s only family relative also died during this period, so care had to be found for Prossy as she recovered, which again incurred further expense.
TFCM set a target of £600 to help support this broken family. However, thanks to donations, within one week we raised £1,050. The money raised was sent within a few days. Their debts were cleared, the family were able to have good nourishment, and Ronald was able to return to work. They are truly thankful to TFCM’s supporters. This has blessed the community they live in, and all that know them have been truly encouraged by the generosity of the financial support shown.
