FOOD relief fund

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we supported many vulnerable children, their families and the extended communities in which we operated in at the time. Due to the pandemic and the resulting lockdowns, life was extremely difficult. Many children had been out of schooling for 2 years, and any little income earnt by their extended families had been dramatically reduced. Our mission was to prevent starvation during this difficult time.

Ongoing general donations given to TFCM, will help to buy essential food packages containing maize flour, beans, rice, salt, soap, water and charcoal for those in desperate times, like what we provided during covid. Unfortunately, food poverty is an ongoing battle, not just during a pandemic. High priority cases are highlighted to us by our partners, and these essential packages can then be delivered by our teams or through local church networks we have in Uganda. General funds are vital to our provision for these families.

Priority Projects

TFCM has various infrastructure projects, and the supplying of better school equipment including things such as computers, school desks and chairs. All general donations made to TFCM will continue to support TFCM’s vision for transforming lives in the communities we work in, and also help build towards a better future by enabling us to supply our sponsored children with the key resources that they need whilst at school.

The Children's House - Kalagi

TFCM houses a total of 16 orphaned boys and girls, in the care of our partners in Kalagi.

Some of our supporters raised the funds for us to buy a small house near our school.

Work is in progress to extend and adapt the house to provide separate dormitories, bathrooms & toilets for the boys and girls, plus a kitchen and dining area.

The children are being housed in temporary accommodation until the dormitories are completed, when they will be able to move into the house pending completion of the remaining building work.

Over the last few years we have improved the buildings according to priorities and provision. We installed a steel gate and robust perimeter security wall in 2024, whilst also installing CCTV to aid security. During 2020 we had to divert some extra funds to support families during local lockdowns due to covid-19. This has meant that further ongoing funds are needed to complete other ongoing building projects.

From 2008-2023 we also operated in Kawempe, in the capital Kampala.

For many of the older family guardians we provided a small starter fund for them to purchase materials to make craft items at home, especially baskets, mats, hats and jewellery items. These items were then displayed for sale in the craft display area outside the TFCM office.

Training and counselling in family care, personal rights and parenting skills

We also used to run a range of training and counselling sessions at the training centre, mainly for the family guardians directly supported by TFCM. This has no ceased so that TFCM can focus its work in Kalagi, and help fund the school and childrens home accordingly.

The Father’s Children School–Kalagi

The Nursery and Primary School had 150 pupils in 2020, but not all children had sponsors. Our aim was to secure sponsors for all of the remaining children, to enable them to complete their primary education and for the school to have sufficient funds to maintain the necessary operating standards. Now in 2024, we have nearer 300 children in school, but still seek additional sponsorships for those needing support to be able to attend.
